1.2.1.contentACCESS prerequisites

Important:
1) Customers should configure Store and SQL DB backups in case of data loss.
2) Archive store should be excluded from the antivirus scan, as the scan may quarantine or remove files.

General prerequisites
The following prerequisites are needed for the contentACCESS archive server.

Software requirement

  • 64bit only Windows
  • OS: Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Windows Server 2022
  • .NET Framework 4.8
  • IIS 7.0,8.0
  • Operating system memory (RAM): 8GB is recommended
  • Free disk space (HDD): 20GB free space is recommended
  • Processor (CPU): 2.4GHz quad core

Important: It is required to set the SQL Server as ‘Collation – Insensitive’ (the used collation must be CASE-INSENSITIVE (CI)) for the contentACCESS. The recommended collation is: ‘SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS‘.

4) Other requirements

  • Read/write access to the store location for the configured user accounts
  • .NET Framework 4.8 for contentACCESS Outlook add-in
  • Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime 10.0.60724 for contentACCESS Outlook add-in

Search server prerequisites
The following prerequisites are needed if you would like to use the search service.

Software requirement

  • Java SE 8.0.1210 or later
  • .NET 6.0
  • iFilters for indexing

Preview service prerequisites
The following prerequisites are needed if you would like to use the preview service.

contentACCESS Exchange Archive server prerequisites
The following prerequisites are needed if you would like to archive emails with the contentACCESS archive server.

Software requirement

  • MS Outlook 2010×64, MS Outlook 2013×64, MS Outlook 2016×64, MS Outlook 2019×64, MS Outlook 2021×64 (Click-to-Run Outlook is not supported!)

Service User
contentACCESS MS Exchange services user rights:

  • Member of the local Administrators group and Distributed COM Users group
  • Read rights over the Configuration Container
  • Assign DCOM Rights on Windows 2012 R2 and above:
    • Distributed COM Users – Local and Remote Access; Launch and Activation

Supported MS Exchange versions

  • MS Exchange 2010 – all service packs, MS Exchange 2013, MS Exchange 2013 SP1
  • Exchange Web Services (EWS)
  • MS Exchange 2013, MS Exchange 2013 SP1, Exchange Online – Microsoft 365

Note: The EWS user must have at least View-only organization management rights on the Exchange (required by the Email Archive provisioning). Organization management rights are required if the Mail app is also used.

contentACCESS File Archive server prerequisites
The following prerequisites are needed if you would like to archive the file system with the contentACCESS archive server:

Supported MS Windows server versions

  • MS Windows 2012 R2 and above, all service packs

Other requirements

  • Read/write access to the source file systems for the configured user accounts

  • MS Windows 2012 R2 and above, all service packs
  • Installed with local administrator account
  • .NET 4.8 Framework

contentACCESS SharePoint Archive server prerequisites
The following prerequisites are needed if you would like to archive SharePoint data with the contentACCESS archive server.

Software requirement

  • SharePoint client-side object model (CSOM redistributable package – included the contentACCESS setup)

Service User
contentACCESS services user rights:

  • Member of the local Administrators group and Distributed COM Users group
  • Impersonation rights

Supported SharePoint versions

  • MS SharePoint 2013/2016, all service packs
  • Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online
